New Site Up and Running!

Posted on 2009-04-23

The new Rainbow 100 portal on the web is running! Drive W, which refers to the Rainbow's Winchester hard disk (Start from Drive W), will grow into a source for Rainbow 100 information and archives. The current site features a basic news systems and a categorized archive database containing long-abandoned Rainbow programs and information as well as new additions.

For new visitors, the Rainbow 100 is a personal computer produced by Digital Equipment Corporation during the 1980's. The Rainbow 100 is a dual-CPU system, featuring a Zilog Z80 for executing 8-bit CP/M software as well as an Intel 8088 for executing 16-bit software. The system ran CP/M-86/80 and MS-DOS as its primary operating systems, although a handful of others were also available. While not IBM-compatible, the Rainbow is MS-DOS-compatible, an important distinction.
